Product Description

Our leather puppy leash is light enough that an 8 week old German Shepherd puppy. Also perfect for many of the miniature and toy breeds. Many times puppies and very small dogs have a difficult time handling a heavier 3/4 inch leash which has been designed for a larger adult dog. Our puppy leashes are light weight and measure 6 ft. long x 3/8 in. wide. They are handmade by the Amish from Latigo Leather and imported hardware. Because the leash is so thin, it is best not to rivet the leash as it will only weaken the leather. This is our only leash that is not riveted.

    Soft and comfortable in the hand. The leash comes loosely rolled as pictured and will easily fold back into this shape after and before use. This is great if you are training a pup who wants to grab at any loose leash while you're hooking her on, since it is a perfect size to fit in my hand. The leash is quite strong. My lab was about 20 lbs when I started with this leash (it might feel too heavy for a wee pup-- when mine was tiny I used a thin nylon leash because it was light.) I plan on using it until she hits 45 lbs and we graduate to the next size up. High quality all around with a clip that feels solid and works well. UPDATE: She's close to 60 pounds and this is still my favorite leash. It has gotten really soaked on a number of occasions and has retained its suppleness and strength. It is easy to hold and won't give you the rope burns you get from "standing firm" with a nylon lease and a distracted pup. I'd give it more stars if it were possible!

    always check your leash before walking your puppies! I noticed a break higher up on the leash . I think our puppies chewed this and weakened the strap, I just ordered the dog size which received very good reviews. The puppy quality seemed nice and light but it just wasn't durable. The same was true for the puppy collars by the same company. I love the look and feel, hopefully the dog leashes will be more durable and we will be more attentive and discourage the chewing.

    I had previously gotten the 5/8 which I loved, super soft/strong, but can no longer find that size so I thought I would go with the 3/4. This leash is so stiff and not soft like I expected. I train a lot of dogs and have used it for two months now and it is still rather stiff. Also the leather has edges they are not rounded so it cuts into my hand a bit.

    Beautiful quality leather. Pretty supple on arrival. Would have liked the option to order this black 6ft leash slightly wider for hand comfort. The edges are a bit rough on the hand in this width. Have been putting 100% Neatsfoot Oil on it to help with the edges. All in all it is great quality and so far is holding up well. Will order from this company again, although would definitely want wider for comfort. Would like option of 1/2 inch or 5/8 inch.

    As you would expect from the Amish, this is a very well-made, handsome item which should last for years. I particularly like the smaller width because I own small dogs who don't need a lead sufficient to handle a plunging horse. I am 100% satisfied with this product. It will work with any small breed of dog and the 6 foot length is the generally recommended length for obedience classes as well.

    Wasn't really as nice as the photo and it smelled weird. It was sort of sticky? The leather isn't soft. It was folded up (sort of as shown in the photo), and when I stretched it out, it had a bunch of kinks in it. Wouldn't lay flat. The folding up of the leash basically bent it permanently.
    I ordered a coordinating collar from same place, and the leather was sticky and smelly as well. :(
    We never actually even used either of them because of that.
