"The backpack is great but the side pockets are too small causing me to lose a few items on a hike." Read more
Yes the pockets are so small they are practically useless and yes the bottom could be slightly firmer but the bag is not cheap and neither is the craftsmanship nor materials. I shopped around and I believe this is the best bag of this sort available. I am very pleased, as is my 6lb Chiweenie
My dog loves it (even though it took couple tries/ treats to convince her it's safe to climb in). It's comfortable to carry the 7-pounder either in the back or at the front, thanks to the padded shoulder straps and adjustable waistband. The carrier seems to be very well made. The fabric/mesh appears to be very sturdy. The backpack is also very light-weight. Note: The head-out opening won't be able to be closed completely.
At first, thought it was too small. But once my 11 lb yorkie princess got in, it was perfect! We let her smell it at first... and placed some treats inside for her to stick her head inside and smell around. She wasn't as hesitant to get inside after. The backpack is super light, durable, and breathable. It's also very secure with adjustable straps and waist straps. Very pleased.
The size and color was great. It fit my Italian Greyhound, which was my biggest concern before I ordered it (my dog weighs only 11 pounds, but she is TALL).
However, the product is VERY poorly made. The first time I tried to use the zipper, it came off in my hands. The adjustable equipment and string around the neck sling is also poorly made and easily comes off in my hands (no knots to help hold the plastic in place). The bottom isn't very structured, so it can be difficult to get the pet into a comfortable position.
These slings run super small. It said it was a large, but it fit small. Our Chihuahua is 6.5 pounds & it was way too snug for him. I returned it. Very well made though & stylish.
The quality of the backpack itself is fine. However, the straps are designed for a giant! I'm 5'3" and even with the straps shortened to the max, the back was hanging too low in the back to comfortably walk around. As it's designed, the bottom of the back hits my upper butt-area.
Just because the bag is X-large doesn't mean the person carrying it is 7' tall.
My 20 Lbs Lhasa loves this, she even goes in by herself when I open it because she knows she gets to go with us to places she didn't used to. She is very comfortable during our hikes. The only reason I don't give 5 stars is because I wish the strap adjustments were on the top strap as a normal backpack instead of the bottom and were able to tighten them more. I am petite and have lower back problems, and the back pack falls right under my lower back when tightening as far as it comes and with the weight pulling it can be painful,. I have to hike with my hands pulling it from the front, so the bag can fit higher on my back and the dogs weight can actually put a little pressure on my lower back which actually relieves the pain on long hikes.
I have a 15 pound male min pin and he loves to go with me on my bicycle and this is the best way that I've found to carry him. You draw the string up around his neck he sets in the backpack looks around and thoroughly enjoys the ride as much as 15 miles. Truly great pet backpack
Advertised as "XL" this bag wouldn't even fit my 20 lb dog comfortably. Also unless you dog is very short, good luck pushing their head down into the hole opening. The straps were also very impossible to put on. They're supposed to criss cross but how you're supposed to do that with the dog in the pack I could never figure out. Also wasn't much support, so again unless your dog is very tiny, it'll sag with their weight. Disappointing.
