We just adopted our first Yorkie pup. I had no idea how much work and joy would be involved until I read this book. Already my little 8 week old pup is potty trained, crate trained and knows how to sit on command. We have 5 daughters and are expecting our first son in a few months so he gets a lot of interaction with the kids and is learning not to bite when corrected with "no bite". I am so thankful for this very informative book and for others I have read that give further insight and understanding of how a puppy thinks.

I hoped this would assist with my 2 year old yorkie as some of the reviews stated its great for older dogs too. I'll have to try a bit more and re review. And start from scratch with the new pup. Love the positive reinforcement method. This is something I've always done with my dogs. Very valid points to this book. I just wish it were a little more detailed.

As the title says, quick read it's a very short manual. But to the point and very helpful. Everything I have learned and tried from this book WORKS! My little 3 month old yorkie Juliet has passed each step with flying colors. The hardest for her is the NO CHEW, but she's trying I can tell and distracting her with something like a chew toy instead of shoe laces really has worked! Thank you for helping me train my little girl. Spend the low cost of the book and get it!

This was a good intro into into what to expect with breed wish it was more in depth as I still have a few more questions. If you have already purchased your puppy it is a good place to start with the training of your new bundle of fur. I would recommend this book, written well and is an easy read.

This guide to Yorkies is ok. Pretty general training techniques are discussed. I found that the author glossed over the dental part of their health. Apparently Yorkies are notorious for having dental problems, to the point where brushing daily may not even prevent dental issues....but it will help nevertheless. Of all my pets, my vet has never stressed this issue to the point of deep concern because she's seen what can happen to young Yorkies. If you have a Yorkie, I would recommend doing a Google search on the dental problems and how to go about maintaining their dental hygiene.

Very helpful for us as first time Yorkie owners. Specific tips and steps for training on a variety of topics is especially helpful. I also liked the emphasis on positive reinforcement. Now we need a book on how to keep up with our high energy puppy! Thanks for the clear, specific instructions. Mike and Judy Nicholes

Very easy to read. I wanted to know everything about Yorkshire's and how to train them to their optimum ability.
I don't have a Yorkshire Terrier but it is my hope to soon. And studying before hand, and having a sense of the
do(s) and don'ts is very helpful and necessary, I believe. Exactly as the author writes, the style is easy, and very easy to
comprehend what we should and should not do regarding the training and discipline of Yorkshire's. I am sure that I will
return to this ebook often if I ever am the 'alpha male' of a precious pet like a Yorkie.

This is my first Yorkie, a rescue dog, and we love him to death!!However, we did not in o w much about this b breed. This book was so helpful to us and now we know some of the things we were doing wrong. He is young, and it is oblivious that he Haas had some prior training. Being abandoned caused a lot if issues we have been dealing with and this book gives us the proper way to handle him now.

I was a bit dubious at first with this book being so much cheaper than most others, but it is one of the best books I have got about the breed, it covers everything there is to know about them and I would say a must for any Yorkie owner be it first time owner or one with other dogs, I have read and re read some chapters and find it a very useful reference book when I need to know something specific, I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly what it says on the cover!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on January 8, 2013
I like this book and the approach of the author to dog training - it is sensible and consistent. I really cannot see that any other way would work so well. Why would I recommend this book, because what seems a sensible, obvious approach to dog training does not seem so obvious to all too many people! Yes, buy this book and join those dog-owners who realise that their dog's behavior is down to them and begin to enjoy your dog ownership / adopting to the full.

My only comment on this book's content is that it assumes you are beginning with a young Yorkie. This book could be improved if it also gave us some guidelines for helping older dogs be the sort of dog we would all be proud of. That said, this is a book well worth owning, reading and putting into practice.

By the way, I love Yorkies - thanks for including nice pics Mindi!
