We have three large dogs and one brand new minivan with leather seating. Unless you like to throw a lot of old rugs into your new car, consider this sturdy, soft-sided pet home. We bought one to try it and then almost immediately ordered a second one.
Our car is a standard size minivan with a four foot wide usable space in the rear compartment. That's not wide enough to fit two of these large pet homes side by side. With the third row seats folded into the floor we can fit one of them in the rear compartment facing rearward. The other is placed on the middle row seats facing to one side or the other. To fit one in the middle row requires adjusting middle row seats as far back as possible and moving the front seats forward enough that long-legged drivers need not apply. I'm 5'9" so it's doable. I wouldn't want to drive this way on a 100 mile journey, but it's fine for getting the dogs to doggie day care or the vet. We put our 105 pound St. Bernard in the back by herself and put our 85 pound Lab and 85 pound Rottweiler together in the other one. They all have plenty of room to sit, stand, lie down, turn around, fight and bark. The middle row pet home fits snuggly enough that the dogs cannot put enough pressure over the leg area gap between the rows, so we don't bother to fill that in with boxes or commercial pads designed for that purpose. Almost all of the bottom of the pet home is firmly in contact with the seats.
Collapsing the pet homes for stowing or carrying is easy once you get the knack. Inside the pet home on both sides you push in a small red locking button to release the slide, which you slide along a two-piece rod assembling to a second position where the locking button relocks itself. The rod assembly is now exposed and readily collapses. You push the bottom rod back and down so the entire pet home folds toward you, making sure to fold in the excess material of the sides. Clasps are provided to lock the top and bottom together in a flat package for removal. A convenient carry handle is provided.
The quality of materials is impressive. The zippers are very good. The mesh material has stood up to repeated scratching with claws that daddy should've trimmed months ago. (They only scratch when they see you ready to let them out.)
I put in a couple of throw rugs to extend the life of the "floors" and soak up any accidents. All my dogs behave better in the pet homes than outside them. Mostly they lie down and rest. No anxiety is noted. I believe harnesses are safer for them, but these homes provide much more safety than letting them run loose in the car. Using harnesses requires complicated hammocks or cradles to protect the leather seats. These pet homes are much simpler and don't require any screwing around with seat belts. Until the car manufacturers wise up and provides a real solution, this will remain my method of choice. Don't car makers own dogs?

Choosing the Correct Size for Your Pet
NOZTONOZ(R) Sof-Krate Pet Homes are available in five sizes to accommodate almost any size pet. First measure your pet from the top of his head to the floor; the Sof-Krate only needs to be one to two inches taller than this measurement. Second measure your pet from the tip of his nose to the base of his tail; the Sof-Krate only needs to be four to six inches longer than this measurement. This will allow your pet enough room to stand up turn around and lay down comfortably in his Sof-Krate. Convenient but escapable
We originally had one of these crates to be able to pull out and crate our dogs during storms for when they get frantic at night. We also crate our dogs for other various reasons, and one was able to claw/bite her way out of the crate at the interface of the mesh and fabric / zipper area (small 40lb Sheltie mix). We ended up buying another crate because overall we like it, while also fixing the first one by re-suing the tear area as it was in the fabric area. We have a 35lb Australian Sheppard who gets very frantic during storms and fireworks - so much we usually do not leave during July 4th or New Years. We went to an earlier dinner on New Year’s Eve, and locked our dog into the crate incase fireworks started before we got home. By the time we came home, she had broke through the zipper mesh. Other times when we crate her, there are no issues with the crate and she’s never gotten out before. We have had our 2 crates in our den and bedroom, and the dogs use them all the time on their own and it is their own den - they are open all the time unless we need to lock them in for various reasons. We like the portability of the crate, and have taken it on several trips and it is easy to take in/out of the car into a hotel room or final destination. I will be buying another crate like this, but another brand that is hopefully more durable. General use crate - Excellent. Easy to fold and put away when guests come over, and pull back out for dogs use otherwise. Portability - Excellent Durability - Good for general use if your dog doesn’t want to escape. We’ve had 2 different dogs get out of 2 different crates. So these will not keep a dog inside if they want to get out.

Dogs have pawed at the screen, had accidents in them, we’ve travelled with them, I’ve taken the cover off and washed it, it set back up again perfectly. This is a wonderful crate. It's much more aesthetically pleasing than a big wire crate with a blanket over it. Set-up was easy, it snapped into place in seconds and it can be folded down for transport in a flash. It even has a handle on it so it carries like a large briefcase, but it weighs next to nothing! This is the perfect size for a standard dachshund- even the height does not seem *ridiculously* tall for them, and I can reach in and out to fix their bedding easily enough.
There have been a few comments of poor materials, but I find both of the crates I ordered to be well made. The aluminum(?) frame is light but sturdy, the fabric and mesh looks to be of good quality. No problems with zippers, everything works very well. There is even a clasp to secure the zipper pulls at the top once the door is zipped closed so that it cannot be pawed or pushed open. I can see if you have puppy or a destructive dog that this crate would not be a good idea. But that's not the crates fault, it is not meant to be chew proof. Owners just need to use their discretion. ….my update 7 years later shows it’s durable!

Colour, design
Materials - you don't need a bumper bed (to block limbs from falling out between wire bars) as they can lay up against the fabic and not be uncomfortable, unlike in wire crates.
Light weight, very easy to set up and fold down

Only 1 con - Upon first opening and setting up this crate there is a bit of a plastic/chemical smell. I let it air out for a few days and now it is barely noticeable, unless you go right up and sniff the material. I am sure this will continue to dissipate more (it did) and more over time. I'm not concerned about it.
