Bought this as a traveling crate for our 8 year old yellow lab (70 lbs). So far so good...appears to be well made and functional.
We'll be driving between Vermont and Florida, staying in various hotels along the way. Occasionally we encounter a requirement that dogs be crated when left in the room, so we got this to take along against that eventuality.
Our dog has not been crated with any regularity for a number of years, but she *has* been crated in the past and tolerates it well. She's spent a couple of nights in her crate, so far (getting accustomed to it, in our bedroom) and no complaints.
Pros:
- Very light weight: we had another "portable" crate some years ago, but although it was compact when collapsed, it was extremely heavy and awkward to move.
- Easy to set up and collapse; the tubes making up the top, lengthwise part of the frame join together with a simple sliding linkage (somewhat reminiscent of an aluminum-framed tent.)
- Well ventilated (large mesh windows on all sides, zippered flap on top can also be opened.)
- Zipper-flap front door does not require room to swing open (rigid crates we've had needed room for the door to swing open, door often in the way when opened...not a problem with this crate.)
Cons:
- Not chew-proof: the materials of which this crate is made -- nylon mesh, plastic zippers, with aluminum-tubing framework -- are not especially rugged. I'm confident they'll stand up to moderate use with a mature dog (who is used to a crate and does not chew inappropriately.) But a very young puppy or an anxious dog who might try to chew her way out...this won't stop her.
- To leave zipper-flap front door open, you have to roll it up and press it against a couple of velcro patches...it holds reasonably well, but is a little awkward.
- Don't plan to put anything on top of this crate...not designed to carry any weight.

Spacious, durable, and easy to set up!
We bought this to use on a cross-country move with our cat. Big enough to fit a medium-sized litter box in and do have over half the room for him to move around. Big screen areas on all sides for vision. 3 days of 12-15 hour drives, and no fussing from our feline! We both agree it was well worth the price. Also very easy set up, and once set up is pretty durable. I would recommend this product.
