This cute little puppy pen arrived two days after my new Shih tzu puppy. It was ready for use in less than 2 minutes after it arrived. There is adequate room for small bowls, a pee pad, a small pillow and a couple of toys with my 2.2 lb baby. Little Miss Hou Dini, named for her ability to escape door barriers and dislodge a 28" gate, found her match with this habitat. Because the diameter of the top opening is smaller than the outside edges, climbing or jumping out should not be a problem and the top can be zipped closed if needed. The three "accidents" have cleaned up nicely with wet paper towels. No leaks through the bottom either. Other appreciated features are great visibility - you can see the pet and they can see you, the zip doors with velcro to hold them open, a pouch for accessories like a pad or bowl, and an elastic bottle holder. This unit allows room for play inside without overwhelming the room it is in. This was a great purchase for a small sized puppy. It has been in use for 1 week and Dini and I both love it. I am considering a second one for me to find refuge from puppy teeth!
UPDATE: 5 days later. Finding herself unable to crawl around the outside or escape over the top, even with the assistance of hanging on the tail of the zipper that dangles from the top into the pen, she chewed a better view through the mesh door. The pen is her bed and blocks her access to the rest of the house. I was quite surprised when Ifelt a familiar nibble on my toes while working at the computer. The pen was just where I left it ... no further holes...no movement . . .and no clues to her escape mechanism. I placed her in the pen only to watch her run out the door, lift the bottom edge from the outside. scoot under the pen floor and wiggle all the way through to the other side and freedom in less than 10 seconds! By the way, Dini now weighs 2.6 lbs. I can't blame the manufacturer for her diabolical escape below the pen, but was disappointed the door could not withstand a set of baby teeth longer than 2 weeks. If it were not for the hole in the door, I would try weighing the corners with river rocks. It still cleans easily and, when not entertaining herself with a great escape plot, Dini likes her room. This might work better for a teacup adult that is more laid back or a pet that is past teething.
