A $15,000 MISTAKE
These are fine for teething puppies but don't ever allow an adult dog to have contact with these. 'Tt' our 3yr old female Rottweiler found (or husband allowed... will never know how she really came to have this bone) ate the end off the Bone, super easy for any adult dog. It lodged in her intestine. Fortunately the hole allowed some stomach contents to pass through the center of the Kong end she swallowed. Until it didn't... Took her for xrays... rubber does not show well in xray, Vet sent us home with "no obstruction found". Called us back Friday at 9pm and said he wasn't certain and to go to the emergency clinic. Of course it was a long weekend... and the only option was a $7,500 emergency bowel removal surgery. It was human error... we paid it. After a few days Tt was released and she came home... only to become septic because the vet did not remove the damaged part of the bowel... she just sewed up the damaged section, poorly, and now her bowel contents were leaking into her body. The following Friday night... back to the same emergency clinic, another $7,800 for them to go in and remove the damaged section of bowel where the head of the Kong bone had been lodged and reattached to healthy bowel.If you buy these for puppies THROW THEM AWAY AS SOON AS THEY ARE DONE TEETHING. You can buy new with your next puppy. DO NOT LEAVE THESE IN A HOUSE WITH AN ADULT DOG and a HUSBAND, both are STUPID and do not make HEALTHY LIFE CHOICES....Unless of course your dogs and Husbands manage to screw up in the beginning of the week and your regular Vet can get you in for a $2,000 bowel surgery. Mine are both extra and of course wait till we have no choice but to pay a 300% emergency fee.
