The hood should have a fastener to keep it in place and the slit for the leash should be further along.

I found it to be a good value for the price

I found it to be a good value for the price
Although this is somewhat cheaply made, I found it to be a good value for the price. I ordered the XL for my rescued retriever mix, who doesn't like to go outside if it is raining - he is 22" high at the shoulder and 24" from collar to base of tail. He looks weird in the pics because we shaved him for summer and the fur hasn't grown back. The XL fits him pretty well, except that the hood is pretty much useless the way it fits him - he does have a longish neck, though. It hasn't rained since we got it, but I have a good idea of how it will perform - great if there is no wind, and iffy if we have a tailwind, because the back flips forward and rests upside down on his back. The central velcro underbelly strap has a long velcro strip, so you have a fair bit of adjustability to accommodate your dog's girth. In the pics I have him cinched pretty tight, but it could have been several inches looser. The coat does not interfere in any way with his bodily functions, and stays totally clean of any waste that he relieves - no pee or poo on the coat. He doesn't seem to mind it at all. I think maybe he feels like a superhero with it on. It can make a little noise as it slides around, a nylon sliding kind of noise, but it doesn't bother him, and he's a fairly skittish dog.Another reviewer complained that the snaps on the neck closure ripped out of the fabric pretty quickly, and I can see how this would be very easy to do. There is no reinforcement at all and the little plastic snaps are strong - they would definitely not come apart accidentally. If the manufacturer adds reinforcement here it will work better, but as long as you are aware of the potential to rip through, it is okay - just be careful, and pull only on the snaps to open, and not on the fabric. I get my thumbnail in between the two snaps and pry apart instead of yanking on the fabric. The hood is, for my dog at least, useless. I can put it on his head, and he doesn't seem to mind it, but it stays only until he moves his head in any direction. Maybe if it were bigger, and slightly weighted? I also think that I may have to add some weight to the back end (thinking of glueing or sewing some washers to it, not sure about sewing because I am not sure if this is ripstop nylon or if once there is a hole it will grow) - the problem is that when the wind kicks up, the back of the coat blows forward, so his back end isn't covered anymore - you can see this in one of the pictures.Overall though, I think it will work for our purposes, and it is really cute on him. They also include a small carrying pouch that has a snap-close attachment so you could put it on a belt loop, or a leash loop, or whatever. The first time I put it back in the pouch I spent several minutes finding the original origami folds so it would fit back perfectly. The next time I just folded it up and jammed it in, a couple of seconds, and it worked just as well. I'm sure you would want to wait until it was dry to put it back in the pouch so that it doesn't mildew. I may never use the attachment for the pouch, but it does keep the coat nicely contained in a neat little package when not in use - great to toss in a drawer or bag.

Very cute pattern and Pippin is overjoyed to be told that he's a Extra Large dog now.

I purchased this raincoat for Pip because it's already rained for 3 days and the forecasts says another 8-9 days of rain is in the works. Obviously we can't put off our walks for that long. After looking over a lot of Amazon offerings I picked this raincoat because of the reviews and price (and the pattern). I feel like I got my money's worth.

What you receive is a dog rain coat made of raincoat-type plastic. I didn't notice any smell (like you can get with a new shower curtain) and I liked that the raincoat came in it's own small carrier. The raincoat material is very much like what my own raincoat is made out of, only thinner. Not cheap thin, just lightweight. (Personally my LLBean raincoat is thick and hot, so I'm eyeing Pippin's with envy)

What you get is a raincoat with a hood and an opening on the back so you can use a leash hook. The hood is really large but I think it has to be to accommodate all the different dog shapes that are out there. It's easy to get the dog into the jacket if he'll agree. You simply lay it on his back and then velcro the belly band, and snap the snaps on the front piece that goes across your pup's chest. In Pippin's case I fold a little bit of the hood under so that it doesn't cover his eyes. The hood doesn't stay in place that well. But better to only have to dry his head and feet, than all of him.

    SIZING
I was a little worried about picking a size but after receiving the raincoat I could see that it was actually as easy as it seems.

There are two basic measurements that will help you out. The first is the circumference of the mid-section. The second is your dog's length. In my opinion it's the length that's the more important number because a too short raincoat will leave the hind end wet. You measure the length from the base of the neck to the tail end. Once you know that you can pick a size. All that's left is to confirm that the belly band will work, and pick a pattern.

There's some variability in the belly measurement because of the velcro that used as a closure.

    THOUGHTS
I think I've gotten my monies worth. The raincoat is cute and sturdy. The material isn't oppressively heavy so there's less for one's dog to object to. The only downside for me is that the hood doesn't fit perfectly and won't always stay put. I'm not sure how you could remedy this though without adding something that would annoy most dogs.

    Recommend.

We have an Anatolian Shepherd mix who is around 80lbs and isn't a fan of getting wet. I got this in an XXL as he has a neck measurement of 23" and his girth is 37". It fits him perfectly and is so cute with its little rubber ducky pattern. The best part is there is no pushing legs through here and there, which he is not a fan of. This snaps in the front around the neck, offering two different adjustable options, and Velcros around the middle. It's lightweight and is easy to put on. He has short hair so it won't keep him warm in the winter but that's ok as he has a bulkier coat for that. This is more for the spring and fall rain we sometimes get. He has no issues doing his business while wearing it but isn't a big fan of the hood. It's easy to clean with just a damp cloth and hang dry. Very happy with it.

The little rubber duckies got us lots of smiles from people on the street. That alone was worth it :)

The rain poncho is very easy to put on.
I ordered XL and it fit just fine. My dog is mixed with a hound of some kind (maybe Saluki? Who knows) so he is tall and long and deep-chested, and I was a bit concerned that the poncho won't fit, but it did.

The poncho certainly helps that the dog won't come home soaking wet. The hat, however, doesn't come close to covering the dog's head. It is too small. It would have to be 2 or 3 times bigger to fit. The dog doesn't like it anyway and shakes it off.

Advantage, it's very easy to fold, and take with us, and just put it on if it starts to rain.
Disadvantage, if there's a strong wind, it will fold over the dog's back... Amusing, but not helpful.

All in all, not perfect, but pretty good.

I bought this over a year ago for my 65 lb mutt. I bought a much larger size than strictly necessary because I wanted to make sure she was properly covered. She is.
The jacket is bright yellow, so it also serves as a safety device when trekking the woods - especially during hunting season. it is very lightweight and the velcro is surprisingly strong on it. Awesome! In the winter, we put the jacket over her fleecy winter jacket, which is fairly warm, but has a truly crap, weak velcro on its straps. The straps of the rain jacket fit right over the other jacket's and hold them in place beautifully. And this rain coat serves as extra protection as a wind-breaker, and also keeps her and her fleece jacket dry.
I never used the opening for the leash because it's too much to fiddle with every time. Instead, I wrap her collar around the rain coat and fold the hood back over it. I never use the hood on her head because we live in the country and she needs to be able to hear what's going on around her. In case she needs to be aware of a predator or other creature, or just to hear me calling her.
There are two possible positions to gather the chest flaps. I chose the appropriate one for her and never mess with it. I just slide it over her head and attach the belly straps and off we go! No extra messing around with snaps that could otherwise eventually tear through the fabric.
The coat is perfectly waterproof, even in heavy rain. I don't usually care for "dressing up" pets, but this jacket looks fine on her and is very functional. useful. It is made of very thin material and dries very quickly. The dog is not bothered by it at all. She seems to like it too.
    We recommend this product highly.

Update: Over 2 years and counting! Totally thrilled with this product. We've washed it a few times. Cold water. No dryer. Comes out looking like new each time. Just bought a second one for backup. Though the first one shows no signs of wear or distress at all.

This is a super cute, windbreaker like raincoat for your dog! My Husky mix is around 96 pounds and fits an XXL perfectly. This coat is worth the price in my opinion as it easily fastens, has a cute design, and because the strap is adjustable under the belly it really forms to the dogs shape and helps stay in place better. Totally cute, and worth the money in my opinion as it isn't overpriced and you get exactly what you expect.

Our puppy didn't want to go out in the rain to go potty; so I figured I'd try out a raincoat for him. Given he's not fully grown, and I didn't know what he'd think of wearing clothes, I thought this was a great option to try given the affordable price. It works! Some days he still isn't sure if he likes it, while others he is totally fine putting it on. And he looks adorable in it! Love that is has a harness hole (that's also covered by the way, so helps keep him dry). The adjustable waist strap will also help us keep it a little longer as he continues to grow. The hood is a little big but when it's on he actually walks really well as we think it acts like horse blinders a bit haha. Either way, we're happy with it and the quality and happy to recommend.

This was economical and very lightweight; packs up small but there is no indicaction of neck size so was too tight for my Frenchie!

My dog hates rain so I thought a rain coat would help. The sizing chart was a little difficult to figure out and so I got a size too big but it still works fine. It keeps her dry and she is more likely to go out when it is wet. She looks very cute. The coat is very light weight and packs up small which is nice so I can have it on a walk and use it if I we need it but the dog doesn't have to wear it all the time. It rains a lot where I live so this is a nice feature.
